In 2010 the two probation areas of Durham and Teesside merged to form Durham Tees Valley Probation Trust - one of the highest performing probation areas in the country. In 2014 DTV Probation Trust became The Durham Tees Valley Community Rehabilitation Company (DTV CRC) and in February 2015 Achieving Real Change in Communities (ARCC) took over ownership of the DTV CRC.

Rehabilitation is the core aim of DTV CRC and our vision is to enable people to participate in a positive future. By building on existing best practice and using innovative, forward thinking approaches we aim to reduce reoffending through a variety of evidence-led interventions and will work with key partners to protect communities. We believe in the ability of individuals to change their lives and support people in doing so.

To achieve our aim we will

  • Engage motivated colleagues that are skilled and trained to deliver high quality services
  • Have lean and effective processes that enable continuous improvement
  • Build a reputation for protecting our communities and supporting participant rehabilitation
  • Run an efficient and sustainable business

We employ approximately 200 colleagues across the organisation who are highly skilled and bring a wealth of experience in managing participants and working with partnership organisations to achieve the best outcomes for local communities and the individuals themselves.

Statement of Intent

Our job is to ensure that people who have been in prison or on probation don’t commit any more crimes.

Statement of Intent

We are working together to deliver the best possible outcomes for the public in the North East. We will work across our organisational boundaries and provide joined up services. We won’t hide behind our contracts or delivery agreements or use the excuse that it is someone else’s job to sort out a problem.

We know that helping people change their lives is challenging and we will support our brilliant staff to be resilient and relentless. We will seek out anyone who can help us deliver our outcomes and be open to feedback wherever it comes from so that we can continuously improve our services.

Our Values

We work hard to make a difference to the lives of participants, their families and our local communities because we believe everyone has the ability to make positive change in their lives. With support and encouragement our participants can change their future by making the right choices.

Everything we do, the decisions we make, and the actions we take are with purpose and integrity. Our communication is open. Even when we don’t know the answer or can’t say, we’ll be honest and tell you just that. We work hard to find solutions and to “do the right thing” by all those we work with – as an employer, partner and provider.

We treat everyone with fairness and respect, as well as appreciating people’s differences and the diverse make up of our communities. To us fairness and respect ensures that everyone has the opportunity to succeed. As a listening employer we promote clarity and consistency. We recognise and value colleague commitment. Working with participants we see the person behind the behaviour, and as partners we listen, collaborate and share.

We are an enthusiastic partner, dedicated service provider, and caring employer. We value working together to reduce reoffending, lessen the number of victims and develop safer communities. Our work can be challenging so we create supportive relationships, and a positive environment through humour, communication and cooperation. We listen to feedback and learn from it because we all want our business model to work.

Our not-for-proft business model means we can reinvest to provide the best interventions, alliances and partnerships. Through our specialist knowledge we develop creative and innovative approaches to our work with participants. We use professional freedom together with agility to make a real impact on measures and our vision to enable people to participate in a positive future.

By encouraging everyone to be creative, imaginative and involved we can develop innovative services. This means trusting one another to do the right thing, being accountable, holding others to account, and being truly committed to our organisation collective goals. We celebrate success together and collectively work hard to find solutions when things go wrong.
